DAY 67 OF 86

1SAMUEL 17:
God told Samuel to anoint one of Jesse's sons as the next king of Israel. Anointing another king while one is still ruling is rather dangerous. So God told Samuel how to do that without making it public. That story included this memorable quote: NLT 16:7b “The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

PSALM 101:
Today in Psalm 101 we will hear the aspirations of a great king.

Re-reading ROMANS 6:
Let’s re-read Romans 6 today! Pay attention! Paul is telling us the keys to how the process of transformation takes place whereby we are released from the ‘power of sin’ and ‘death’ to live a new life!

Before opening God’s Word for today, let’s pause to pray.
Our heavenly Father, how good You are to us! Your love is eternal, and your faithfulness lasts forever. It is our joy to worship You with songs, because we want to thank You for all the ways You have been so kind and generous to us. We have heard, heavenly Father, that we all have come under the power of sin because we inherit a sinful nature from Adam. And so all mankind is subject to death. It is not so difficult for us to believe in the reality of sin and death. But now we read today that there is a way in which we should be set free from the power of sin. Paul even says that its power is ‘destroyed’. Now we are no longer slaves to sin. Father, we have a harder time believing the facts of our new life in union with Christ. Please help us to grasp that our identity has been radically changed. Our Father, I intentionally do not describe the spiritual realities here more fully. I ask that You would give my listener the desire to first understand the truths Paul gives in Romans 5-6, then I ask that they will meditate on those truths, and finally that they will act and live in the conviction that the principles here are true.
