One Thing
Psalm: 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
This is what I love the most; it is to seek Him.
Every time I come to the house of the Lord, my spirit, soul and body gets rejuvenated, realigned and reshaped according to His desire and will.
According to the footnote in the Passion Translation, a temple had not yet been built when David wrote this Psalm. He is saying that he longs to be surrounded with God’s presence, enclosed and encircled with holiness.
Lifestyle of worship is about this one thing that is to seek Him.
We must have a deep yearning to meet with Him. This will require consciously making efforts to know Him better and being aware that His presence is above all else.
In the Old Testament, it's written about Moses in Exodus 33:7, that he used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting”. Verse 9 says, as Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke to Moses.
In the New Testament, it's written about Jesus in Luke 5:16, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” And in Mark 1:35, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
What we learn from these verses is that it is not an option to meet with the Lord but it’s a mandate to seek this one thing that is His presence every day.
I would like to share a few tips from my life experience. It has not been easy for me, and I am still learning. I have struggled to consistently seek God, but Jesus said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God” Amen. He will hold our hands so that we are on the right track. But I believe on our part, making few right decisions and rearranging our priorities can help us to be consistent.
I have dedicated a specific time in the entire day to seek Him in His temple, and these are moments when the Lord reveals His heart to me. During these quiet times, I’ve received directions for my life, and I have experienced His presence with a new revelation.
You can start with dedicating 15-20 mins time with Jesus as per your convenient time (but stick to that fixed time) and worship Jesus, read the word of God and pray. You will be astounded how things in your life will become more clear and smooth. As time passes by, you will willingly increase your quiet time with the Lord.
Meeting with Jesus is the best in our lives.
Let’s make this our One Desire.

(Tu Chahiye Mujko – Psalm of Selvam)
Which means, in every moment and every day, I need you Jesus. You are all that I need, and You are all that I want.
