Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 6Sample
From 878 BC, young Joash rules Judah and honors God for 39 years until Jehoiada, the priest and his advisor, dies in 840 BC. Joash then falls into idolatry. In the Northern Kingdom, evil Jehoahaz (856–839) and his son Joash (841–825) rule. In 839 BC Aram/Syria overruns the Northern Kingdom and also raids Jerusalem. Joash of the Southern Kingdom bribes Aram to retreat but is assassinated soon after.
