Lent Through African EyesSample
Palm and Passion Sunday
Many churches celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry on Palm Sunday, but today is also called Passion Sunday because it marks the final moments before Jesus’ crucifixion. To meditate on the events of this Holy Week in slow motion, this devotional has already led you to the brink of Jesus’ passion. Jesus wrestles with the judgement and suffering he is about to experience. Consider keeping watch with Jesus by attending a church service that commemorates Good Friday or another aspect of Holy Week.

About this Plan
Africans throughout history have shaped Christian thought and contemplative practice. Starting Ash Wednesday, explore the Lenten themes of prayer, fasting, repentance, and alms-giving. Sojourn with Jesus’ disciples from his baptism to Holy Week. Abide with him in temptation. Hear the crowd shout—celebrating, then condemning. Watch Simon of Cyrene carry the cross. Witness the crucifixion with Mary. Join a biblical pilgrimage to prepare your heart for Jesus’ passion and resurrection.
