But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. Luke 5:16

I have a sanctuary, a quiet-time room, a prayer room, where I spend time with Jesus. When my batteries run flat, I get charged up again when I spend time in the presence of the Lord in my prayer room. It’s a very special place for me. 

George Müller founded many orphanages in Bristol, England. He cared for about ten thousand children in his lifetime and about six million pounds sterling went through his hands, but he never had to ask anyone for anything. He spent time in his sanctuary with God, and God provided in all his needs. He said that during his quiet time he would always pray first and then read the Word. But then he changed it around. He started reading the Word first and then he prayed. That’s exactly what I do. When you read the Word first it puts you in line with what God wants you to pray about. For God’s Word is our compass, our Book of Life. 

Jesus was always busy teaching the people about the kingdom of God, healing people and helping people.  

But while He ministered to the people He always made time to spend alone in the presence of His Father. “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed” Luke 5:16 

How much time, my friend do you spend alone with God at the moment? Do you have quiet times in His presence at all? If you want to be a follower of Jesus, you cannot afford not to spend time with Him. Jesus is the One who will give you the strength for everyday life. 

Lord, I admit that I do not spend enough time at Your feet. Help me to make time for You above all else in my busy daily program. Amen
