Difference Makers Devotional Plan

DAY 4 OF 6

Passion: a strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything.

Your passions are the things that make your heart beat fast, things that you get life from doing and/or enjoy sharing with others. Ex: music, party planning, crafting, poetry, photography, writing, teaching, cooking, gardening…the list goes on and on. God planted those passions in your heart for a purpose. He wants you to use those passions to shine a bright light in the world around you. God gives us different passions so that everything He wants done in the world will get done.

Here are a few of these examples of people who took something that they were passionate about to fuel their purpose:

Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss- CEO Hyman and co-founder Fleiss, both Harvard Business School grads, were all too familiar with the frustration of peering into a closetful of clothing but having nothing to wear. They  turned their passion for making high-end fashion available for every woman into a company called Rent the Runway, which now has five brick-and-mortar stores and offers over 50,000 designer dresses for rent.

Debbi Fields- Fields was only 20 years old when she started selling homemade chocolate cookies. When she realized how much joy a warm cookie could bring to  people, she decided to start a small business in her home kitchen with her husband Rands Fields . Her passion for spreading joy to every home through warm cookies ultimately grew into Mrs. Fields, which now has 390 locations around the United States and 4,000 employees.

Brandon Stanton- Stanton arrived in New York from Chicago in 2010. A self-taught photographer who had just ended his short-lived bond trading career, he had the goal of photographing 10,000 people on New York City streets in their natural element. His passion for photography eventually developed into the massively popular photoblog, Humans of New York.

Start making a list of the things you are passionate about and ask God to show you ways that you can use those passions to make a difference in the world around you!
