She Is Strong And Courageous

DAY 7 OF 10

Be Restored - Alveda C. King

Lord, let your Word be a mirror into my soul.

Observe God encourages us to grieve, mourn, and allow ourselves to feel our pain—then turn to him, so he can heal our pain and restore our souls. Many of the Psalmists describe periods of deep grief and cried out to God for relief and deliverance.

Grief comes in all shapes and sizes. Whether we are grieving over our own sin or sin that has been committed against us, our grief is processed through various stages and is experienced in unique ways based on our individual personalities. Grief can take our breath away and leave us feeling deeply guilty, sad, fearful, and regretful.

God doesn’t want us to stay in a place of pain forever. He calls us to take refuge within his loving arms. His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9), his comfort is real (2 Corinthians 1:3–4), he can use all things for good (Romans 8:28), and there is hope for our future (Hebrews 10:23). By willfully embracing God’s mercy and grace, our joy can be restored, and our outlook can be hopeful.

Alveda C. King shared her testimony of God’s loving restoration after having two abortions. Niece of the late civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Alveda became a pro-life champion after Jesus transformed her life. Today she helps many women heal by sharing her testimony and currently serves as director and pastoral associate of Civil Rights for the Unborn as well as director of African American Outreach for Gospel of Life. Nothing stops this courageous woman from speaking up for the value of life, and she urges others to boldly do the same.

Courageously be restored by exercising the following principles.

1. Pour your heart out to God and let him be your refuge (Psalm 62:8).

2. Allow God to renew your strength (Psalm 23:1–6).

3. Reach out to others for godly support and encouragement (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

4. Trust God to heal your broken heart and restore your broken life (Psalm 147:3).

Interpret God calls his followers to turn away from sin and turn to him, so their sins will be forgiven, and their souls will be restored.

Apply Confess your sin and receive God’s healing today and let the experience shine through in your attitude toward yourself and your temperament around others.

Father, thank you for the forgiveness of my sins and restoration of my soul. Help me fully embrace your grace and give me the ability to live in light of your mercy.
