First Things First

DAY 17 OF 21

Physical Health

Our physical health is just as important to God as our spiritual health. It’s just as important for us to care for our physical bodies as it is for us to care for our hearts and minds. The scripture that we read today says that “our bodies are the temple of God”. This means that our bodies are a place where God lives, so it is very important for us to take care of ourselves physically. God made our bodies as a gift to us, so we should care for them intentionally. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), which means that God made us on purpose for a purpose.

In order to fulfill His purpose in our lives, we must be physically able to do what He’s called us to do. This means that we should care for the temple (body) that He’s given us. Healthy eating, regular exercise, and rest are important to maintaining health in our bodies. If we neglect our bodies, we will limit what God is able to do through us. Choices such as eating healthy foods, abstaining from harmful substances, and getting plenty of sleep are important to increasing and maintaining the health of your body.

Action Step: What are some ways that you can improve the care of your physical body? Gather a group of friends and make a commitment to make healthy choices together.

About this Plan
