A Godly LifeSample
God hates religious lethargy
One of the features of life in the 21st century is people’s growing reluctance to commit to anything. People today know that they have a lot of choices, and they stall off deciding so that they can keep their options open till the last possible second. They job jump and delay engagement and marriage much more than previous generations.
Alas, that translates also into a lack of commitment to God and church and a Christian life. If people endlessly want to hang back, stay a spectator, stay just a fly on the wall, they will never have closeness and engagement and fellowship in the Word. They will stay small and weak and unproductive in their faith.
That attitude characterized a certain congregation in western Asia Minor. Jesus Christ gave everything for those people. His view of their lethargy: “These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:14-16).
Another feature of the times we live in is the fascination with extreme sports, of going crazy, all in, for something. Are you ready to go all in for Christ?
