The Wisdom Of The Teacher For Today's College Students, Chapter OneSample

The teacher here assumes or states his identity as Solomon depending on your interpretation of the authorship of the book. It’s worth checking deeper into why both sides feel the way they do and you can easily find that information online. Either way he sets out to use wisdom as the lens through which he will evaluate all that mankind tries to accomplish to make life meaningful and productive. He declares that this striving is a miserable task. Not his search, but man’s effort to find meaning, but it does keep us occupied. We see that all around us on the campus. Many talk about “finding themselves” or “finding our place in the world.” The Teacher declares that after his search and examination, he concludes that the all our searching is futile. We can’t find the meaning we are looking for through our labors under the sun. He concludes with a proverb to point out that circumstances in life are often more than we can overcome. If the pursuit of a fulfilling career is not the answer to the meaning of life, where can we find it? Maybe it’s through knowledge as we shall see tomorrow.
