Becoming In FaithSample
Knowing God and my identity in Christ completely transformed me from the person I was into the person I AM today! Some of you may even feel like, “I already know my identity in Christ. I don’t need to hear this at all.” Please hear this, a daily dose of remembering who you are won’t hurt either.
Did you know there are stages of becoming your identity in Christ? I did not. Before you were born, God knew you. He named you. He set you apart. Your identity in Christ was set in motion before you were born. Why is it so hard to take hold of my identity in Christ? I believe that if you understand the stage that you are in, it can help you grow into the next phase more quickly!
The stages of becoming:
Unbecoming - Lost and without hope
Becoming - Fighting for this new identity
Become - Christ in you overflows
The unbecoming stage - you are lost and without hope. Before I was in Christ, I was unbecoming. I had nothing to offer people because I was desperate to be loved so all I could do it take, take, take. I was easily offended and hurt. Even after I was saved, without Truth, I was still unbecoming.
The becoming stage - you are now aware that you have an identity in Christ and your pursuit of it has begun. Your understanding of who you are is merely head knowledge in which you have yet to accept or believe your true identity fully.
Finally, the have BECOME stage - Your relationship with God has made known to you, with unspeakable confidence, your identity in Christ. You no longer need people to make you feel loved to know that you are loved! All the labels from your past no longer have power over you. You are truly free and His! His love becomes an overflow through your life into the lives around you.
The key to moving through these stages is based on your ability to hear God’s voice. We are going to walk through this over the next three days. Would you ask the Father prepare your heart?
About this Plan
In this reading plan, we are going to talk about the three stages to becoming like Christ. First, Unbecoming - which we are all unbecoming before Christ; The Becoming Stage - as we are learning to take our thoughts captive; and finally, the I Have Become who God says I am. Do you want to love others well? Then let’s become who God already says we are!
