DAY 39 OF 81

EXODUS 17-18:
Yesterday in Exodus we heard the wonderful victory song of Moses. Then we heard how the people of Israel grumbled against Moses, Aaron, and most importantly, the Lord. Even about a simple command like the one about gathering manna, the people of Israel disobey repeatedly. They are not called stubborn for nothing.

JOB 39:
Job 39 is the continuation of God’s harsh challenges to Job.

2PETER 3:
I observe about 2Peter chapter 2, that sadly, even in Peter's day, there were greedy false teachers. Peter's descriptions of the false teachers are some of the most colorful in the Bible.

Let me begin the prayer for us today:
Our awesome and powerful sovereign Lord:
You are the Creator, and all those amazing things You were talking to Job about, You know the answers to everything. And we are your creatures who live for just such a short time and know so little. Heavenly Father, I thank you that your Word tells the truth. You tell us that there will be people among us who will be false teachers. They will bring in destructive doctrines. They will even deny You. And one attribute that keeps coming up is their greed. Father we pray that you would help us to perceive when our teachers are leading us astray, when they are motivated by worldly lusts, or by greed, or when they are just teaching things that people want to hear. We see in these passages that we only know a little portion of what happens in this world. There are spiritual realms, and beings, and hierarchies that we have no understanding of. But You understand these things, Father, and You’ve told us what we need to know. We see that You know how to rescue godly people from their trials, and to keep the wicked under punishment for the day of judgment. Lord, instead of despising your authority, we choose to bow to You and say, “You are supreme, and You are the righteous Judge, and we praise You for the mercy that You’ve shown to us through Christ Jesus. And because of that, amidst the darkness we see in the world today, we ask You that we might be lights reflecting the glory of Christ.
