Read To Me DAILY

DAY 29 OF 81

GENESIS 47-48:
In yesterday's reading, Jacob arrived in Egypt with his family. Excluding more extended family, the whole group numbered 70 people at that time.

JOB 29:
Yesterday in Job 28, we heard the chapter in praise of God’s wisdom. I think NLT is right attributing this to Job rather than to Zophar. Today Job speaks of his former blessings, in the first of three chapters which are the final statement of his case.

1PETER 3:
In his first two chapters, Peter packed each sentence with meaning. I encourage you to take time to re-read those chapters slowly and think about Peter’s descriptive words. Yesterday, for instance, we read the wonderful “Living Stones” passage— which pictures deep meaning about our spiritual identity because of our being built upon (or, joined as one with) Christ, the Cornerstone.

At the end of chapter 2, Peter taught about submitting to governmental leaders, and slaves submitting to their masters.

Please join me in prayer:
Oh our Lord and our God, how we thank you for your living and eternal Word! I thank you first for what the ending of Job 28 said. You say to us, “To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord.” And, “to understand, you must turn from evil.” Oh Lord, Yes. We come to you and bow before you. We ask you to give us understanding and wisdom, that we may understand your Word properly, and that we may see what a treasure you have given to us. Make us like newborn babies who are always thirsty for the spiritual milk that you give us in your word, that we may grow and be saved. Father thank you that you give us the position of living stones. We can come and become a temple to the glory of Christ, who is the cornerstone. You even call us priests and we can offer spiritual sacrifices to you. Thank you that you have given us these identities: a chosen race, the king’s own priests, a holy nation, your own people! Lord help us to perform your wonderful deeds. Thank you that you have called us out of darkness into your marvelous light. And now, Lord, we really are strangers and refugees in this world. But we ask you to help us to escape from the infections of this world. Help us to not give in to our bodily passions. Thank you Lord Jesus that you came as our shepherd. We return to you, Lord, as the keeper of our souls. Thank you for carrying our sins in your body on the cross. Today help us that we will die to sin and live for your righteousness.
