Kindred: The Cost of Loving JesusSample
After Jesus ascended into Heaven, He asked God the Father to send the Holy Spirit to live in the hearts of those who put their faith in Him for salvation so they could communicate with God and carry out the mission they had been given to spread the Gospel. God did, and He does the same for us today. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit made it possible for Jesus’ followers to speak in other languages so that everyone they talked to would be able to hear the Gospel in their own language. It was a true miracle!
The crowd’s response was varied. Some were confused, and some made fun of them. Peter was unaffected. Instead of being intimidated by those who were laughing at him, he shared the Gospel anyway. After they heard the Gospel, many of the listeners put their faith in Jesus.
Like Peter, we can’t be intimidated if people respond negatively when we share the Gospel as we’ve been commanded to do. If we back down, they might be the very ones who suffer, and the God we represent loves everyone. Instead, we must remember when people respond negatively, it’s usually because they are uncomfortable with the message, not because they have something against us personally.
Thank God for giving you the ability and courage to do what He’s commanded you to do.

About this Plan
Loving Jesus isn’t all sunshine, roses, and worship songs. Doing it properly takes time, effort, and sacrifice, and God doesn’t accept half-hearted worship. You’re either all in or all out. Fortunately, you don’t have to go it alone. In this study, discover what God expects from those who wish to serve Him and how He expects us to accomplish it.
