The Gift of Trust
We're used to carrying the weight of others, yet, we don’t seek help. We think that we have to bear it all on our own and that we’re solely responsible for everything. If something goes well, it was because of us. If something goes bad, it was because of us. Whatever the outcome, we believe that we’re the person responsible for it.
We’re used to being the strong one; it’s what causes us to carry burdens by ourselves. When we carry heavy loads by ourselves, it becomes increasingly overwhelming. Add that to self-doubt, and we may begin to fear fatherhood. There are so many things one could fear about fatherhood like health, childcare, school district, marital changes, and of course finances.
There are so many biblical examples of men who failed Jesus because they tried to do it their way. Whether it was trusting other gods or kings, they did not place their trust in the right thing. Unfortunately, there are consequences for not putting our faith in the right things. The Israelites turned an eleven-day journey to forty years because they did not trust the Lord. The Israelites doubted that they could take the land, which resulted in them wandering for forty years. Most of the men from that faithless generation died before arriving in the promised land.
There were only two men that had faith: Joshua and Caleb. They were rewarded by being the only two men from their generation to receive the blessing the Lord had for them. The Lord gave them the gift of trust, and they did not slander or waste their blessing but cherished it. Their confidence in the Lord gave them courage and a holy boldness to obey the Lord’s commands.
Trust is what gives us peace during troubling times. Trust allows us to receive the Lord’s assurance that we will be protected. When we use to gift of trust, we don’t have to be consumed with the concerns of this world because we trust Jesus’ thoughts and ways. When we trust in Him, we are securing our blessing.
Trusting God with your child will only serve as a benefit to you and your child. The best thing we can do for our child is to entrust them with our Lord. Life, children, and every good thing come from above. If we can trust the Lord with our lives, then we can trust the Lord with our child; after all, He gave them to us. God. When He created us, He made us in His image, gave us dominion and gave us a spouse.
Trust that God will take perfect care of your child. Trust that God will order your every step. Trust that God will be God.
