Depressed To Deep Rest In God

DAY 3 OF 5

Developing your Joy

Whether it's a broken family, an abusive relationship, a failed dream, or you just feel alone...  We have all experienced the uncomfortable, dark, and shaky places in life. You may be there today? But remember it's often in the foggy places God sets us in - in order to sit us still,  not in swarms of crowds but in solitude is where His sheep hear His voice. Listen for Him!

Today, don't just read the bible. Let it speak to you - and then speak it over your life.

One of the greatest ways to develop your joy and grow in your faith, even in your distress, is to not only hear God's word, but speak God's word. By verbalizing His promises over your life, you create room for Him to fill you with the peace, joy, and purpose that only He can bring.

You only have to posture yourself towards the only ever-radiant light in this world full of utter darkness. A fixed posture towards God will lift our perspective to see God's promises in the midst of our problems that are waiting to confront you today.  In the midst of your problems don't allow your thoughts to become dirty. A mind full of dirt will produce a mouth full of mud.

Your words matter. Keep your lips pure, and speak God's truth over your life.

He eagerly desires to exchange your anxiety for His peace, your distraction for His presence, your heaviness for His light burden. He desires uprightness in heart for us not because He is a stern perfectionist, but because He loves to see His children walking and enjoying His presences in freedom from depression.

P.R.A.Y

  • Posture: The only way that we can begin a journey toward rest is to posture ourselves towards God.  When we humbly posture ourselves towards the only source of true joy - we will find much more than joy for the moment, but God helps us develop a deep joy that's eternal.
  • Request: God surely receives lots of urgent prayer requests - and He never fails to remain at rest. He's not worried about what we are worried about - He has everything under His control. Everything! He want's to exchange your worries for His peace that transcends all understanding. That peace is available to you right now. Ask Him.
  • Alert:  Stay mindful of the words you speak. Program your mind by first disciplining your mouth. Speak only what you seek - and that's the person who God intends for you to be.
  • Yielded:  Don't be lead by your feelings, but by faith in God's spirit. Feelings fluctuate, and consequences last forever. Lord, teach us to acknowledge you in all of our ways. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. - Psalm 73:24
