Depressed To Deep Rest In God Sample
Discovering your Joy
Today's devotional isn't about thinking as most people think. We don't need a devotional for that; it's clear how stinking thinking ruins things around us all the time. Today, we will shift our perspective, and change our thinking in a way that maximizes our potential for joy.
Let's start with perspective. You must ask God to give you His perspective (eternal) on yourself, your relationships, and the situations in your life that are troubling you. Realign your focus to Jesus so you can see every facet of your life through the lens of God's flawless eyes.
Second, you must think about how God thinks. To understand how God thinks we must understand who He is:
God is love.
God is all powerful
God is ever present.
God is all-knowing.
God is holy.
God is merciful.
God is faithful.
God is just.
God is absolute truth.
God is unchanging.
The descriptions above remind us all of how perfect and unlimited God truly is. To think like God, we must allow our thoughts to reflect God's thoughts by mirroring His character. Only by God's grace, virtuous thinking, and a guarded heart will we conquer this battle.
Virtuous (deep-rest in God thinking) > Vicious (depressed thinking).
Today's scripture verse is based on Philippians 4:8-
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.
P.R.A.Y
Perspective: Today, don't go searching through your closet of problems - instead clothe yourself with gladness, seek God's face as you face your day. The greatest action during your day is your interactions with God. The right perspective produces a joyful life.
Read the Word: You can't rise above the world's standards by consuming the world's content. Life's toughest trials are endured not only by reading God's word, but by believing, breathing, and being it. His word enables us to prosper in all things - in an encouraging, joyful manner.
Assess: Assess your heart. Examine it well. Ask God to light up the shadows in your heart so that you'll be able to work on the things that you never knew were hidden in you.
Youthful: Stay youthful, stay useful for God's glory. Depression has a way from departing you from God's people, and purposes for your life.
