One On One: 100 Days With Jesus--ADVENTSample
The Why: The Reason Behind the Story
Really, all things considered, the Bible doesn’t give us much details about Christmas. Instead, and even better than details, God’s Word tells us the “why” behind the story.
The greatest fact is that Jesus came at all. (1) The second greatest fact is that He invites us to come to Him.
O, come all ye faithful. Joyful and triumphant . . . and everyone else, too. Everyone who walks in darkness but longs for light. Everyone who will take a chance at believing something beyond the provable. Everyone who takes a step closer and lets God whisper into their ear . . . . . I love you—that’s the why of Christmas.
God loved the world so much that He gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in Him shall not be lost, but have eternal life. (2)
God loves you like groom loves his bride (3), like a father loves his child (4), like an artist loves his masterpiece (5).
No one knows you better—all your secrets, all your faults, all the peculiarities that only a Lover knows. (6) Yet His love doesn’t depend on how beautiful you are—but on how beautiful He is. It’s not at risk when you fail at your job, or your marriage, or your life—because His love never depended on you in the first place. He loves you because that’s what He is.(7)
Jesus is love come down. To earth. To us.
Like a magnet, His love pulls you to Him.
So, come, all you faithful. Come to Jesus.
Look close enough and you’ll find He’s better than you thought and more than you hoped He’d be.
In Him appeared life and this life was the light of mankind. The Light still shines in the darkness and the darkness has never put it out. (8)
He’s light to everyone groping in the dark.
He’s love. The kind you’ve longed for and never dreamed really existed.
This is the “why” He’s come.
Underline these verses in your Bible: (1) John 10:10 (2) John 13:16 (3) Song of Sol. 4:10 (4) Ps. 103:13 (5) Eph. 2:10 (6) Ps. 139:3 (7) 1 Jn. 4:16 7 (8) John 1:5
Tomorrow: One on one with Jesus when God says “now.”

About this Plan
Christmas and Easter—two meaningful seasons help us celebrate Jesus’ birth and resurrection. Now make the days in between special, too, with One on One: 100 Days with Jesus. Walk with Jesus in Advent (30 days), in His Ministry (35 days), in His Passion (35 days). Begin during Advent—finish around Easter. Be inspired every day to know and love Jesus more as He connects with people, one on one.
