The Christmas Story Through African EyesSample
Salvation for All
From an Africa Study Bible application note:
Ever since sin separated us from God, humanity had been waiting for God to fulfil his promise. Over and over, humans had failed to obey God and had suffered the consequences. But God had reminded them through his prophets that one day he would send a Saviour. One day, their relationship with God would be restored. There would be peace. All people from every nation would rejoice.
When Jesus came to earth, the angels announced to the shepherds that the time was finally here. The Saviour, the promised chosen Messiah, was in their neighbourhood! What good news!
The shepherds rushed to see the baby. They could not contain their excitement. They told everyone about the angels and who they had seen: The Saviour is here!
Unlike the many generations before Jesus, we are no longer waiting for the Saviour. The Saviour is here! This news brings great joy to all people. Because Jesus came into the world, God now offers full salvation and abundant life to people of all nations who turn to him.
Today:
As you celebrate Christmas, let the shepherds’ joy inspire you to accept this wonderful offer of salvation. Then, spread this message of salvation to your family, your friends, your neighbours, and everyone you see. The Saviour is here!
