#BeWorthFollowing

DAY 3 OF 4

#BeFearless

Let’s face it, we live in a world consumed with fear. For one minute, turn on the news or scroll through your social-media platforms and you will find story after story that is centered around fear. From terrorist attacks, the Zika virus, cancer-causing foods, riot attacks, political worries—the list goes on and on. It’s truly toxic. And if we’re not careful, we’ll find ourselves consumed with the fears of the world, so consumed that we will paralyze ourselves from ever living out the calling God has given us.

But even without external fears to contend with, all of us also have internal battles about our worth, abilities, failures, and yes, even successes. What happens if we find ourselves succeeding at something new, something that really matters to us? Even success can feel unsettling sometimes. What happens if we start succeeding, only to mess up and lose it all? Like tentacles wrapping around our insides, suffocating real living, we can be suffocated by our fears.

Where did fear originate, and why is it so easy for us to be fooled into letting it take hold and determine our mindset, peace, behavior, and goals?

Can I be real with you? If we ever want to experience the life that God has entrusted to us, we have to choose daily to do away with the fears that the enemy would love to strangle us with. As leaders, influencers and women of faith, we have been called to #BeDifferent and to #BeWorthFollowing, and as long as we allow fear to creep up into our lives, we will miss out on the opportunities that God is trying to present to us each day.

Fear tactics have long been one of the enemy’s most effective weapons, which is why there are so many references in the Bible about not being afraid—in fact, those references are often commands, which means we’re given the power to obey them.

What 1 John 4:18 means for us as leaders is that when we know we are loved perfectly by our Savior, we’re guided by love and guarded from fears of the world’s condemnation and of our own potential to fail or succeed. Not that we’ll never face those realities, but that “in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37, NIV). There are bigger things at stake than earthly wins and losses. Our God-given dreams are for His eternal purposes, and He will help us be victorious for those purposes.

You see, all of us experience fear at different points in our lives. We’ve got to choose to say, “God, I will not allow my fear of __________ to keep me from experiencing all that you have for me.”

What I’ve learned through my experiences is that what we do with that fear is what determines whether or not we will allow ourselves to experience the good things God has for us. Fear is what ultimately holds many women leaders and influencers back from experiencing the success that is waiting for them, both online and offline.

What fears are holding you back?

  • Fear of failure?

  • Fear of what others will think?

  • Fear of criticism?

  • Fear of not being good enough?

  • Fear of not being smart enough?

  • Fear of success?

  • Fear of others knowing about your past?

  • Fear of responsibility?

  • Fear of accountability?

  • Fear of not saying the right thing?

  • Fear of rejection?

Today, be fearless in pursuing what God has called you to.
