Let It Burn
When God gets in the middle of ordinary stuff, nothing is ever the same.
In Exodus 3, Moses saw a burning bush. It was a strange sight. The bush was just an ordinary bush, but when the Spirit of God came to live within it, the bush became extraordinary. It burned with fire, but miraculously never burned up or burned out.
In the Old Testament, God's presence is represented by fire. In the Law laid out in Leviticus, the priests were required to continuously stoke the fire in the tabernacle so that it would never burn out. Extinguishing the fire would waste Israel's sacrifices to God.
Today, God's Spirit lives within us and burns forever in our hearts. And it doesn't just give us His presence. His Spirit gives us power, love, and self-discipline. Why wouldn't we want to keep this fire alive?
Pray:
God, Thank You for being present with me everywhere I go. Your love consumes my heart like a fire, and Your Spirit gives me power. I pray You will teach me what it means to keep my faith alive, active, and burning throughout my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
