SAYING 17: FAMILY IS GLORIOUS
A member of the Mosaic community named Ale had her father visit her in LA last week. Before he left, he wrote to his daughter: "I know sometimes you think you are too scared to fight; I am always here to fight with you, my brave one. And when you think you can't, I will fight for you."
Life is glorious!
Life is best when you know someone is fighting for your best. In God's most brilliant design for humanity, he created FAMILY. How perfect when a father protects his daughter, when a mom listens to her son, when a family prays, when there is forgiveness, when there is progress. Family is complicated, but family is glorious.
These days the McManus family is dispersed. We are deeply connected but all of us are in motion.
Erwin shared on Instagram recently, "Began the morning in Mexico City and finishing my day in Bogota, Colombia. I could have never imagined that my life would lead me on such an extraordinary journey across the Latin American world. I was born in this world and cannot be more grateful to have a small part in its future. A new future begins the moment we refuse to leave the world as it is."
Erwin lives in the future and I in the present. As we have traveled the world together as a family, I see what is and Erwin dreams of what could be. That's who our kids got as parents, two very different humans. We made the idea of family work awkwardly but filled with faith and adventure. We failed then won, and failed and prayed, and screamed and cheered, and cried and loved.
We celebrate the growing up of our children, our faith, and our hope that we will always be able to serve together in this dream of refusing to leave the world as it is.
