Journey Witnesses

DAY 155 OF 221

After spending several years with Paul as his travel companion, Timothy was commissioned with leading the church in Ephesus. Paul’s first letter to Timothy was meant to provide the church with crystal clear direction for how to establish leadership within the local church and keeping the message of the gospel at the center. It was not uncommon for the church to be infiltrated and influenced by others with a different message or a different gospel.

This letter gives us a glimpse at what it means and what is required of Christian leadership. Timothy was called to model the ideal Christlike behavior. As a leader it was Timothy’s responsibility to use his gifts as well as the gifts of others in order to further the ministry and guide others to following Christ.

Because we are uniquely designed specifically by God and for God, we have the responsibility to recognize and refine our gifts, talents, and abilities. Our gifts and talents are the mechanisms or wiring for how each of us can best communicate the gospel and be a witness for Christ. Think about who God has made you to be, what you love to do, and what you love to create. Be bold and diligent in your efforts to move the gospel forward and let others see Christ through your gifts and abilities.

About this Plan

Journey Witnesses

Because ignoring the great commission is not an option. Jesus left us with the great responsibility to go and make disciples, to be witnesses, and to be his hands and feet in this world. Don’t leave something so important to chance. This reading plan is created to help you make disciples who make disciples. Use this reading plan along with the Awana Journey Bible Study book entitled Witnesses.
