Brave: Experiencing God In The WaitingSample

Have you ever believed the lie that the love you are craving will come from a husband or a boyfriend? When we find the one, then we will truly know what love is. When we find the one, then we will truly be accepted. When we find the one, then we will truly have it all. The enemy had rooted these lies so deep in me that I believed them to be true, and it took me almost 7 years to realize this.  

You see, I am a to-do lister, have to know everything, type A person. The struggle and desire for what I thought was an earthly husband was real. Yes, I always had the Lord, but it wasn’t until I found myself surrounded by darkness, longing and aching for some unknown love that I wasn’t finding on this earth, that I finally looked up. I began to grasp that the love I thought would come from a husband actually came from my Heavenly Father. I began to experience inexplicable joy upon this realization! I finally found what my heart was craving, and it didn’t come from any earthly thing. God patiently waited for me to figure this out. He didn’t push it on me. There was so much beauty in realizing this on my own. I finally saw what the Lord was waiting for me to see. The moment I ran into His arms hurting and broken was the moment I experienced the most beautiful love and the overflowing joy, and He wants this for you too. 

My eyes were finally opened to the truth. The truth that the only love that we need, the only love that will ever sustain us, is the overflowing, never ending, all-consuming love that only comes from the Father. When we accept that, when we realize that the love we are searching for is the love only the one true God can give us, we find rest. 

I encourage you to take a walk or go sit by yourself somewhere quiet. Think about the love that you are wanting. Think about all the desires to be loved. Then tell God these thoughts. Open up his Word and read the truth of His promises for you. Tell Him all the love that you are craving. Then, stop and listen. Allow Him to show you that He is all these things. That He is the love that you are wanting and waiting for. 

Allow Him to fill you with His love.
