Challenge Accepted: SacrificeSample
Often, the things Jesus calls us to sacrifice or cut out of our lives are for obvious reasons. Sin and old habits can be one of the hardest things to let go of, even when we can see that they are not good for us. The allure of the moment and the lie of the enemy that the pleasure, rush, ease, or whatever carrot he has us chasing will end up being worth it can trip us up again and again. Yet Jesus called us to lay these things down – to die to our desires, and to go so far as to remove the sources of temptation from our lives for the sake of living the kind of life He wants for us. As the old adage goes: it is far easier to avoid temptation than to resist it.
As you read today, ask yourself these two questions:
- What verse stood out to me the most?
- What can I do with that in my life today?
About this Plan
Jesus Himself told us again and again that a life lived for Him will have challenges, and that we will be called to willingly sacrifice. But could it be that these sacrifices are not arbitrary tests, but are actually one of the quickest ways God designed for us to grow in our faith? This week-long plan will explore what Scripture has to say about sacrifice.
