Power Read The Bible In 60 Days With Jeff AndersonSample
Day 15
BIG
[Scheduled Reading: 1 Samuel 28 - 2 Samuel 15]
Everything about David's life was BIG.
His dreams were BIG.
The giant he faced was BIG.
The battles he fought were BIG.
His fame was BIG. His enemies were BIG.
The sin he committed was BIG.
The fallout from his sin was BIG.
His vision to build God a house was BIG.
His family was BIG.
His bodyguards were BIG.
His sacrifices were BIG.
His praises were BIG (wait till you read Psalms :)
When reading about King David, it’s hard to not fall into a trance and feel like the stories you’re reading are the make-believe kind. But they’re not. They happened.
Something else was BIG. God’s covenant with David. God promised to establish David’s throne FOREVER (2 Samuel 7:16). That’s BIG!
I’m not sure what David thought of this promise. Does anything on earth last forever? Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall. But forever is exactly what God had in mind.
To fast forward, Jesus is the King that comes in the line of David. And Christ will stand on the throne FOREVER.
Throughout the rest of the Bible-read, you’ll see mention of names like Abraham, Judah… and David.
These men fall in the line of The Seed mentioned in Genesis 3:15. Like the founding father faces on Mount Rushmore, King David’s name is frequently connected to the coming messiah.
That’s BIG.
