More of Him, More Like Him (Part 1)Sample
Desiring His Fullness
Observation
1. Ephesians 3:14-21 encourages us with the truth that we can be filled with the fullness of God. Name two important ingredients that we need to experience this fullness (verses 16, 17-19a).
2. The phrase “that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” is called “divine passive,” which means that God is the one who fills us with His presence; and we are merely recipients of His work. What, then, should be our part in order to continually experience this fullness (verse 17)? What should be our attitude?
3. For what purpose is God causing His great and abundant power to be at work within you (verses 20-21)
Reflection 1. “Love” in Greek is agape, which means unconditional and sacrificial love. In your personal walk with God, recall personal experiences, which point to “how wide, how long, how high, how deep is the love of Christ?”
Application
1. Measuring God's love is impossible since it “surpasses knowledge.” But how do you show his love to those around you? Give one specific situation where you commit to show God's love to your loved ones, friends and especially to those whom you are not close to (even an enemy) this week.
2. God can do immeasurably more than we can ask and think of, but we may be asking or thinking only of small or vague petitions. What specific prayer request would you ask this week that will display God’s glory in the church and in Christ Jesus?
3. Share your Application answers in your next D Group meeting to make yourself accountable and ask for prayers.
4. Use Ephesians 3:14-19 and personalize it so that you pray it for yourself. After you have done that, pray the prayer for a specific person or persons whom the Lord will impress upon your heart.
