Just Jesus: Answers For LifeSample
Introduction
Jesus shares His heart because He loves you. When He was on this earth, He prayed regularly to God as He walked the rough, rugged road of life. Finding answers to the constant challenges we face every day can be lonely. Honestly, many of the problems I have in my life are either my own creation or the stories I make up in my mind about them. Jesus is simple and direct, yet His words are loaded and nuanced. He’s brought so many good answers without shame over the years to my own craziness. Even when I want change, sometimes I don’t like the process. I feel ashamed to admit my weaknesses. Who wants to see their own mess? We need the Jesus in each other. He never intends you to figure out life alone.
Even when it’s painful for me to admit the truth, I wouldn’t change the freedom it brings for anything. Change starts in your heart. During an intense storm at sea, when Jesus fell asleep in a boat, the disciples feared for their lives. Yet Jesus slept right through it. The storm wasn’t inside Jesus. So many times the emotional storms in my heart keep the world around me chaotic. I usually don’t find peace around me until I quiet the turbulence in my own soul. Jesus calmed the storm around Him by the peace that was within Him. He spoke forth what was already in His heart: “Peace! Be still!” Mark 4:39. The storm stopped, and the sea calmed down. He is direct and personal. He is there, discussing life issues with you. Jesus gently goes to those broken places in your heart with the healing salve of the Holy Spirit. He breathes peace into your soul. Jesus is safe.
He has a way of simplifying the most complex issues. Jesus is the Word. His personal words carry no more weight than the rest of the Bible. It is all the inspired Word of God. However, there is something about reading, listening and focusing on what Jesus says that seems to draw us into deeper friendship with Him. To hear Jesus is to understand the heart of God. Walk through your problems with Jesus and your good safe friends. This beautiful, incredible Man created our great vast universe with infinite invisible molecules. How amazing is that! In Hebrews 1:3, Jesus is described, “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.” ESV.
Jesus’ words don’t just have power – they create power.
Jesus’ words create life. This is the Person you will become intimately acquainted with as you read His words. He loves you. He made you in His image. My heartfelt prayer is that you get to know Jesus as your dearest Friend, walking through your life issues together. In Matthew 28:20, He says, “I am with you always.” You are never alone.
