Good Or Bad? Sample

Good Or Bad?

DAY 1 OF 3

 Is pride good or bad?

“Pride goes before a fall.” Even people who have never had their noses in a Bible know that proverb. It is usually applied to others who are perceived as arrogant, spoken by people who are intimidated and jealous, hoping the jerk will stumble and face-plant.

Pride most certainly is a terrible sin. The more one’s ego is inflated, the smaller God becomes in the person’s life. Here’s a story from one who knows. The sovereign of imperial Babylon had been temporarily cursed by God with insanity. Hair and beard wild and unkempt, he grazed on pasture grass like a wild beast. When he regained his right mind, he acknowledged the God of heaven: “I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble” (Daniel 4:37).

On the other hand, when God is firmly seated on the throne of your life, it is possible to take pride in what has been accomplished through you. Paul was justifiably proud of the progress the Christians in Corinth had made in their lives of faith and deeds: “I have spoken to you with great frankness; I take great pride in you. I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds” (2 Corinthians 7:4).

There is a great satisfaction in using God’s gifts with God’s people to accomplish God’s agenda. Yes, be proud.
