Have you ever gotten a present? Maybe for your birthday or Christmas? Did you have to pay for that present? Of course not! It wouldn’t be a gift if you had to pay for it. But someone paid for it. If your grandma gave you the gift, she paid for it. If your friend gave you the gift, they paid for it.

Our sin put us in a bad place. The only thing you can buy with sin is death. Your friendship with God dies when you sin.

But Jesus paid the price to give us an amazing gift we don’t deserve: God’s grace. Jesus was separated from God, His Father, when He took our sins and died on the cross. It looked like His friendship with God was over. We deserved that punishment, not Him. But Jesus was stronger than sin and death. He won. He came back to life! Now, we don’t have to pay for our sins by losing our friendship with God. We can be God’s friends forever when we believe Jesus paid the price for us!
