DAY 5 OF 6

The church has often been quick to condemn unbelievers for their sin and behavior, yet it should be no surprise that people who don’t know God act like they don’t know God. What we should concern ourselves with, first and foremost, is whether we are living holy and transformed lives. As we pursue the Lord, we can then ask for the wisdom to reveal His kindness to the world around us in a way that invites them to find their own transformation in Him.

As children of God, we are recreated in Christ to be hard like a diamond yet tender as a blossom.

We live in a world that fulfills what Paul wrote in Romans 1. So many of us have abandoned the knowledge and presence of God and can no longer recognize the basics of His design for humanity.

But ask yourself, has bemoaning the evils of our day changed anything? Unfortunately, we have been known more for what we are against than what we are for. The holiness and transformation we seek in our culture is not going to come through our judging and condemning it, but when we address our own issues first and then release God’s kindness, mercy, and hope to those who need it.

God’s kindness is always an invitation for us to return to truth, rather than an endorsement of sin. This is why we need wisdom. At times, we act like it’s kind to say that sin isn’t sin because we don’t want people to feel ashamed. However, we need to be willing to call sin what it is, yet do it in a way that releases hope instead of condemnation.

Holiness in our culture starts with us giving our whole selves to God. There is a generation that is desperate for transformation, and they are waiting to see it in us.

God says He will heal a land when His people humble themselves and pray, not when everything lines up perfectly in that land’s government. What does this mean to you?
