1,000,000 Chapters – Part 4Sample
Though it may be difficult to admit, many of us understand that along with our faith can come struggle. Regardless of whether we’re new to discovering Jesus or have been following him for years, these trials continue to come our way. We all have heard that if we’re willing to remain devoted to God and listen to what he calls us to do, we’ll be able to conquer more of the hardships in our lives. But what does this really look like?
1 Peter was written during a time when Christians were being persecuted regularly for following Jesus. Peter himself had been in and out of jail, and beaten many times for practicing the Christian faith. This level of persecution in Peter’s life allowed him to not only gain a better understanding of what it means to follow Jesus when times get tough, but it also allowed him to speak encouragement and advice into the lives of those who were also experiencing similar hardships.
Throughout the book, Peter talks about not only the necessity of being reminded of God’s glory and love that he has set aside for you, but also reminds us of some of the practices that we need to stick to in order to remain regularly devoted to Him. Through this regular discipline and devotion, we as Christ followers not only can continue to grow closer to God, but can also get through the trials that we’re currently facing.
As you read this book, consider not only what God may be calling you to through the text that you’re reading, but what others may have historically felt as they originally read it hundreds of years ago. 1 Peter continues to be an inspiration and a challenge to many Christians who, like many, need a reminder of what they need to remain focused on as they continue to grow closer to God.

About this Plan
This is the fourth part of Parkview Christian Church’s series to read through 1,000,000 chapters of the Bible together. There is nothing that equips or invites the Church to live like Jesus more than reading the Bible. The pages of the Bible capture God’s story and lead those who dare to read it to live out His story for today. That’s why Parkview is making the challenge to our church to collectively read 1,000,000 chapters of the Bible together. Will you join us on the journey?
