It's Better To Give Than To Receive
I can always remember the excitement of Christmas morning. Opening packages, going to see what gifts were under the tree, what an incredible experience. Of course, some of my favorite moments were giving the gifts I had made or purchased for my family.
Even as a small child my heart swelled with pride and anticipation waiting to see the smile my mom/dad or siblings expressed when opening my gift. Even at children's birthday parties, everyone wants the birthday boy/girl to open the gift they brought first!
Lets stop and imagine how God the Father looks down in hope for us, waiting for us to unwrap the gifts He's given to us. The gift of salvation, the gift of the Holy Spirit, all of these blessing and gifts that He freely gives. He loves to give good gifts to His children. We can learn this principal of giving, as we receive.
As we give, God pours back into our life. The rewards we receive from doing for others and giving, far outweighs the experience of receiving. Giving is personal, it requires a commitment, and in the end produces the feeling of satisfaction. You will never forget the feeling you experience when you give things away. When we are givers, we become a part of a greater good than ourselves.
Challenge:
Today, find someone that you can invest in. You can give a word of encouragement, give the gift of your time, or give financially to someone in need. Give your mom/dad a break and unload the dishwasher, or put away the laundry. Share an uplifting thought with a friend, or even a teacher. If you've been saving money for something, maybe take a portion of that and bless someone or a ministry with a financial gift.
When you give with a clean heart you will never regret your investment in someone's life.
