Lent Devotional: RestoreSample
Restore: God is restoring me
There may be reasons why we don’t always get that restoring rest – young children, noisy neighbors, anxiety, sickness etc. Even so, God is and always will be Jehovah Jireh, the Lord our provider.
In 1 Kings 19, we read of the prophet Elijah. Faced with the threat of Queen Jezebel, he deserts his post and runs for his life. Fear and despair consume him and he asks God to take his life. Instead God provides him with rest, food and drink; he reassures him of his love for him and gives him a new job to do.
Even when our life has become a mess, like it had done with Elijah, God wants to restore us. He wants to give us good rest, hope and a future.
Lord God, thank you that you want to restore and renew us all. When we are weak and needing rest may we put our trust in you. We lift up in prayer those people who are struggling to find that restoring rest and we trust that you will be Jehovah Jireh to them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
