Confessing The Hebrew Scriptures

DAY 3 OF 5

Comfort, comfort My people,” says your God. Speak kindly to the heart of Jerusalem and proclaim to her that her warfare has ended, that her iniquity has been removed. ―Isaiah 40:1-2

Na•cha•mu na•cha•mu ami yo•mar Elo•hey•chem. Dab•ru al-lev Yeru•sha•láyim ve•kir•oo e•lé•ha ki mal•ah tze•va•áh ki nir•tza avo•na.

A shepherd knows when His sheep need comfort, assurance, and kind words. The Bible is God’s written Word and offers us just what we need. As we spend time in it, we receive the comfort that nothing will ever change His love for us. We see repeated assurances that He will never leave us. We receive His promise that, no matter what we do, those who have placed their faith in His Son, Jesus the Messiah, are guaranteed eternal life in heaven. God’s written Word speaks kindly to us telling us that He knows our weaknesses, and it reminds us that He is able to strengthen our weary souls and faltering feet. Psalm 42:5 speaks of the help provided to us through God’s presence, and Psalm 16:11 tells us there is fullness of joy in His presence. God also provides comfort to His sheep through other people. How has God recently comforted you through His Word, His presence, or another person?
