Unshakable Hope - Courage

DAY 64 OF 77

Week 10: No Condemnation: God’s Promise Through the Cross

God’s Promise: “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1 NIV)

My Promise: I will find forgiveness in the finished work of Christ.

The realization of our moral debt sends some people into a frenzy of good works. Life becomes an unending quest to do enough, be better, and accomplish more. Yet, deep within is the gnawing fear, “What if, having done all, I’ve not done enough?” Other people respond to the list, not with activity, but unbelief. They throw up their hands and walk away, exasperated. No God would demand so much. He can’t be pleased. He can’t be satisfied. He must not exist. If he does exist, he is not worth knowing. These are two extremes: the worker desperate to impress God and the unbeliever convinced that there is no God. Can you relate to either of the two? God does not stand on a mountain and tell us to climb it and find him. He comes down into our dark valley and finds us. He does not offer to pay all the debt minus the dollar if we’ll pay the dollar. He pays every penny. He doesn’t offer to complete the work if we will start it. He does all the work, from beginning to end.

Unshakable Hope Declaration

We are building our lives on the promises of God. Because his Word is unbreakable, our hope is unshakable. We do not stand on the problems of life or the pain in life. We stand on the great and precious promises of God.

About this Plan

Unshakable Hope - Courage

When life shifts toward struggles or pain or disappointment, where do you turn? When uncertainty invades or sorrow seeps in, where do you look for answers? Here’s a suggestion: turn to one of over 7,000 biblical reminders of God’s care, concern, and guardianship. God, both promise-maker and promise-keeper, “has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4 NIV). Through this reading plan, we’ll become well acquainted with many of these promises and learn to rely on them in every turn of life. Unshakable Hope-Courage is the second installment of a three part series. Part 1 is titled Unshakable Hope-Strength.
