Week 6: Inside Out: God’s Promise Through Mary
God’s Promise: “It is God who works in you.” (Philippians 2:13 NIV)
My Promise: I will welcome and cooperate with the inner work of God.
God gives you the same offer he gave Mary - the supernatural deposit of his son in your life. Christ isn’t just near you, or for you, or with you - he is longing to be in you. God offers you the same Christmas gift he gave Mary - the indwelling Christ. Christ grew in her until he came out. Christ will grow in you until the same occurs. Christ will come out in your speech, in your actions, and in your decisions. The message is clear. God is the energy in your spiritual life. God is the wind in your sails. Quit trying and start trusting. Did we earn a place in the family? No. Did we shed the blood or bear the pain? No. We are here by God’s grace. We do not work for our salvation. But we do “work out” our salvation. We learn to walk with God. We learn to talk with God. Prayer time increases. We seek our will less and God’s will more. We cooperate with God’s work. Remember this - He was an embryo in her. He is a force in you.
Unshakable Hope Declaration
We are building our lives on the promises of God. Because his Word is unbreakable, our hope is unshakable. We do not stand on the problems of life or the pain in life. We stand on the great and precious promises of God.
About this Plan
When life shifts toward struggles or pain or disappointment, where do you turn? When uncertainty invades or sorrow seeps in, where do you look for answers? Here’s a suggestion: turn to one of over 7,000 biblical reminders of God’s care, concern, and guardianship. God, both promise-maker and promise-keeper, “has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4 NIV). Through this reading plan, we’ll become well acquainted with many of these promises and learn to rely on them in every turn of life. Unshakable Hope-Courage is the second installment of a three part series. Part 1 is titled Unshakable Hope-Strength.
