Samson

DAY 2 OF 3

DAY 2: Our Call for Redemption

“Delilah gave herself to the inevitable. There was nowhere to run. As rock and roof came down all around, she fixed her eyes on Samson’s figure. He stood tall and strong, his long hair crowning his head. He lifted his face toward the skies, and as he did, his body stopped quaking. He was a man who knew what was coming and accepted it without regret.” – Samson, Eric Wilson (Charisma House, 2018)

Even though the story of Samson happened long ago, it’s easy to put ourselves in his shoes. As we strive to live in obedience to God, we are increasingly surrounded by Delilah-like influences tempting us to stray from God. We are immersed in a culture that defines right and wrong for itself, and the things of this world are enticing.

When Samson goes against God’s will, he falls and finds himself weakened, blinded, and enslaved. Similarly, if we turn against God and His purpose for our lives, we lose our strength, our discernment, and our freedom made possible through Christ.

But the Lord forgives a repentant heart. When Samson calls on God in his last effort to save his people, God gives him the strength to succeed.
