DAY 4 OF 7

Turn Around

A few years ago I wrote a song with Matt Maher, one of my favorite artists/worship leaders in Christian music. Even though it was our first time writing together, we knocked out two songs in our first session. One of those songs was called “Turn Around” and it was Matt’s first single off his record “The Love In Between”. I loved the song so much, I recorded it as well and put it on my latest album, “More Like A Lion”.

This song talks about how Jesus loves us and wants us to come to Him for forgiveness. We all come to God soaked in our own sin, rebellious, disobedient and guilty when charged as a sinner. But God comes to us with a way of escape. Instead of offering judgment on us, He sends us Jesus as a savior to free us from our prison of mistakes.

Jesus is the only way you and I can experience salvation. In John 14:6 Jesus says that “He is the way, the Truth and the Life”. It goes on to say that no one can come to the Father except through His Son, Jesus.

This is important. We cannot save ourselves. Many have tried. No one has been able to accomplish it. We need a savior.

When reading a book by Max Lucado about our needs as humans, I thought he summed it up pretty well. This is as best as I remember it.

If God had thought our greatest need was information, He would’ve sent an educator. If God had thought our greatest need was technology, He would’ve sent a scientist. If God had thought our greatest need was money, He would’ve sent an economist. But God knew our greatest need was forgiveness, so He sent a Jesus.

Thank God for Jesus.
