God, Help Me Raise Kind Kids!Sample
A Kind Reaction
How far can the ripple effect of one act of kindness go? Two girls were given $50 each with the instructions to do something kind for someone else. How did they respond? Kate and Anna took this responsibility seriously and sent the money to a village in Sierra Leone to help the people celebrate being Ebola free. That started a chain reaction of kindness! The man who gave them the money saw how far his small gift had gone. Even though he is struggling with ALS, he knows that showing kindness is one way to continue impacting the world. His example has caused a hurricane of kindness!
When hard times come into our lives, do we react in bitterness or kindness? In Romans 2:4, Paul reminds us that “God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance.” When we show kindness to others by responding in love and forgiveness, it softens their hearts.
As parents, we can express kindness in our homes by cultivating an atmosphere of respect. As we show gratitude for our kids words and their views, acknowledging growth, and noticing the positive things, those traits become contagious. When we’re tempted to be rude or short with our kids, we can stop and reconsider our reaction. The frustration may still be there, but we can deal with it in a way that still exhibits kindness. When we do this, our kids learn from our example and will begin to show kindness in their responses as well.
In our verses today, we learn that God’s kindness was the reason He acted to save us from sin. He forgave us from our sins and now we, in turn, can show kindness, compassion, and forgiveness to others.
Suggested Prayer:
God, thank You for saving me. I know that it is because of Your kindness and mercy that I can show kindness and mercy to my children today. Please remind me of that as I go through the day. Help me cultivate an atmosphere of respect and love today.
Learn how these two girls showed kindness and how it rippled around the world.

About this Plan
Do you want to instill the attribute of kindness into your kids? It’s often difficult to model kindness to our children, so let’s discuss it. Over the next 5 days, we’ll study what the Bible says about kindness and pray together for our kids.
