Full RecoveryExemplo
Recovery Day 9
Going to Christ is the solution to a lot of relational and marital problems. Sadly, a lot of people do not go to Him. Instead, they run to their journals to pen down dates and happenings of offense. We need to consistently remind ourselves that Jesus extends an invitation to us when He says, “COME to Me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
So wife calls husband and he is his usual playful self and then she says, “You are not angry with me any more?” The husband responds, “No! Why should I be?” And the wife says, “Don’t bother, if you do not remember.” Two hours before, something the wife did had gotten the man really upset. So she had obviously given him two hours to calm down. But in the space between both conversations, the man had gone before God in worship and genuinely lost sight of the anger and pain. So, the wife calls back with a prepared apology but the man honestly did not even remember the incidence. Go to Christ! The reason a lot of people are stressed out is because they are not spending time alone with God. They go everywhere else but not to Christ.
Culture says when you are empty and stressed out, do something, go somewhere, eat something. But Christ Jesus says when you are stressed out, come to Me. Or does your Bible read, “Do something, go somewhere, eat something all you who are weary and heavy-laden and you will find rest”? True rest for your soul and the antidote for stress is not in something or someone, it is not in a process or philosophy, and definitely not in a pill. The antidote to stress is a person and His Name is Jesus. Eph. 1:19-20a “Oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him – endless energy, boundless strength! All this energy issues from Christ.” (MSG) Anything outside of the endless energy and boundless strength is proof that you have walked away from your reliance in Jesus. Trust Jesus and you will find rest for your soul.
Thought: What practical steps would you take to make Jesus The One you run to?
Prayer: Precious Jesus, I confess that I have sought rest in people, in places and in things. Lord, I repent now and I choose to magnify Jesus in my heart, in my life, and in every situation that comes my way, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
