Praying for the Cure—for Comfort and Healing From CancerExemplo
Too Wonderful for Words
My child, it might surprise you to know that I’m not sitting up in heaven keeping track of your mistakes, nor am I counting all your good deeds and handing out rewards. You simply can’t earn your way into My favor. It’s not about what you do. How will you ever know when you’ve done enough? It’s all about what I’ve done for you. I have given you a gift too wonderful for words. Before I gave you this perfect gift, you were held captive to a law you could never follow. But in my mercy, I came to earth to set you free!
I love you so much that I couldn’t bear watching you suffer. So I came to take your punishment once and for all, to exchange my righteousness for your sin. I came to earth as a humble baby giving up my rights as God. I suffered and died because you could never do enough. Because you are human, you can’t possibly follow all the rules. No one can. In this one ultimate act of love, I paid your debt in full.
No, you don’t deserve this cancer. But no good deed would have prevented it. No amount of personal goodness will ever bridge the gap between your human imperfection and My perfection. Only by trusting in what I did for you on the cross will you be whole and perfect in My sight. It is only by My grace that you receive My free gift, an eternal home where sorrow and mourning will disappear. You have a priceless inheritance that can never be destroyed.
My child, when they whipped Me, you were healed. When I dragged the cross up the hill to Calvary, I carried the weight of your cancer on My back. When they nailed Me to the cross, I defeated your cancer and carried it with Me to the grave. I died to save the world, but I would have done it just for you.
Lord, thank you that my faith alone makes me righteous in Your sight! My life is no longer mortal and temporal, but eternal and forever. The enemy and his cancer cannot touch my soul or take away my life in you. You conquered him at Calvary and took away the sting of death. You died so I could live. Thank you that I am safe forever in your hands.
