Breaking the Patterns That Break YouExemplo

Breaking the Patterns That Break You

Dia 5 de 5

In the Bible, there is an often-overlooked woman named Miriam. Her baby brother was at risk of being murdered due to a ruler’s decree to kill all the Hebrew male newborn babies. To protect her son, Miriam’s mom hid him in a basket and put him in a river. Miriam kept a close watch over her brother, and when the pharaoh’s daughter discovered the boy in the basket, Miriam asked if she wanted a Hebrew woman to nurse him. When Pharaoh’s daughter agreed, Miriam went to her mom who was then able to return to the baby and care for him. Through her watchfulness, Miriam became a safehouse and saved her brother. This baby, who we later know as Moses, delivered the Egyptian people from slavery. He was one of the greatest and most important leaders and prophets in history. Every hero needs a safehouse like Miriam.

Miriam, Moses, and their other brother, Aaron, led the people of Israel from slavery to the promised land after miraculously crossing the Red Sea on dry ground and seeing the Egyptian army overthrown into the sea. After much adversity, Miriam grabbed a tambourine and led the women to worship God with song and dance. She was then given the title prophetess, the first of only a handful of women in Scripture identified that way. Miriam’s dancing led to other’s dancing, just as our freedom can lead others to their own freedom.

May this season mark your freedom and restoration and spur you on to dance. And if your response is, “I don’t know how to dance,” I say that’s not true. The reality is, we all know how to dance. We are just worried about what others will think if we bust a move. Dancing is the bodily epitome of human freedom. We all have it within us. Dancing, loving, and healing are the same in this way: We just need to know the voice of God to do them well.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for giving me the ability to praise and worship you. Please help me rejoice in this season of restoration. Amen.
