John 3:16 - for God So Loved the WorldExemplo
What is God's love?
Love conquers all.
How often have you heard those words and felt them to be true?
If this is true for us mere mortals, how much greater is the power of the love of God? How much more does God care for His Creation, especially those who turn to Him in faith and accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord?
The opening words of John 3:16 tell us that God loves His Creation.
“For God so loved the world…”
It doesn’t say that He just loved Christians, Jews, or any other part of His Creation. It says He loved it ALL. That includes the sinners of this world, too. His love is extended to all mankind as He provides for both the righteous and the sinful. (See: Matthew 5:43-48)
When we consider God's love in the scriptures, we get a glimpse of God's nature.
Someone once said, “Love is a verb.” This is especially true of God's love. God’s love isn’t just an outpouring of emotional feelings or romanticism that is often portrayed on the screen or in books. God’s love is active, and His actions prove God has love for all mankind.
When we read the attributes of love in 1 Corinthians 13, we get an idea of what God’s love is like. The words in that scripture are all things we must learn to do if we are to walk in God’s love.
The essence of God’s love is that it is more than just feelings or emotions. We are to learn to walk in God’s love and be transformed into the image of God since God IS love. (See 1 John 4:7-8, 15-18) When we do come into the love of God fully, then we can love as God loves since the love of Christ will be in control in our lives (See 2 Corinthians 5:14). No longer will we be led by the passions and desires of the flesh, but rather by the love of God.
And God’s love is not about knowledge, even though we need knowledge to learn about His love. His love far surpasses any knowledge we may have, even the knowledge of His love. As we grow in Christ, the love of God fills us, outgrowing any knowledge we may have until we are filled with all the fullness of God’s love.
Prayer Point:
Pray to understand God’s love, which was so great that He gave His only Son to die so that we may receive salvation and life in Him.
