Day Three: A Human Becoming

Let’s talk about Hebrews 2 and what it means to be a “human becoming.” The thing is, you’re not just a human being, you’re a human becoming. We’re constantly being shaped by what we listen to and focus on.

The big question is… What are you paying attention to?

Hebrews 2 gives us a wake-up call: Don’t drift away. It’s easy to think of salvation as a one-time event—you prayed the prayer, got the T-shirt, and now you’re good to go. But that’s not how this works. Salvation is an ongoing process, a direction you’re moving in every single day. You’re either becoming more like Jesus or drifting away from Him. There’s no standing still in this.

Paul is throwing down the gauntlet here, challenging us to stay engaged with Christ’s teachings. It’s not enough to just hear the Word once and then coast. We need to be constantly tuning in, recalibrating our hearts and minds, making sure we’re on track. It’s like those old-school radios—you’ve got to keep adjusting the dial to stay on the right frequency, or you’ll end up with nothing but static.

Now, let’s bring in some psychology for a second. Just like our conscious and subconscious minds are influenced by what we feed them, our spiritual journey is shaped by the things we let in. If we’re not intentional about filling our minds with Christ’s teachings, other stuff is going to sneak in and take over. And guess what? That’s when we start to drift.

So, pay attention. Keep leaning into Jesus. Your faith isn’t a one-and-done deal; it’s a daily decision to follow, to listen, and to grow. You’re either moving closer to Christ or drifting away—there’s no middle ground. Hebrews 2 is your reminder to stay engaged, stay focused, and keep transforming into who God’s called you to be. After all, you’re not just a human being, but a human-becoming.
