Triumph Over Trials - 1 and 2 PeterExemplo
Chosen in Christ
Read: 1 Peter 2:4-10
SOAP: 1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Into the Text
You are not what the world says you are. You are who God says you are. In a world that tries to label and define us, God’s Word speaks the profound truth of our identity. According to 1 Peter 2:9, you are chosen, royal, holy, and His.
Your life’s purpose is to declare to the world what Christ has done for you and them (Matthew 28:19-20) - how once you were in darkness, and now you live in His marvelous light. You are like a walking, breathing, living advertisement for the love of God. As you grow in your faith and live out God’s Word in your life, you show the virtues of living for God and the blessings that come from following Jesus.
Your value comes not in what you do or what you have, but in whose you are (Ephesians 2:10). Your relationship to Christ is more important than any title you have. While titles, many times, are given to us through achievements, being part of God’s “chosen race,” “royal priesthood,” and “holy nation” is given to us through grace. We are responsible for representing Christ to the world, in unity (Ephesians 4:3).
We must realize that “chosen race,” “royal priesthood,” “holy nation,” and “people of His own” all show unity, one family. As Christians, we belong to one family, one body of Christ (Romans 12:4-5). Each of us is unique, yet we harmoniously fit together as members of the body of Christ. When one of us suffers, we all feel the pain (1 Corinthians 12:12-26). When we are united in harmony, our lives compose a magnificent song of praise, like a beautifully arranged choir.
When we serve, sing, and live not for ourselves, but for Christ, we proclaim His virtues loudly and clearly. So, sing your part boldly, sweet sister. Live your days as God’s beloved, chosen, and treasured daughter. The world needs to hear the beautiful song of your life lived out in praise.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for declaring me chosen, royal, and holy. Help me to live in unity and harmony with my fellow believers and boldly proclaim Your grace and love to the world through my life. Amen.
