Boldness

Read Acts 4:7–13

Just a few weeks before, Peter, in order to avoid possible arrest had denied that he knew Jesus Christ. But here he is before this powerful body of men, boldly reminding them that they had crucified Jesus, that God had raised Him from the dead, and that Jesus is God’s Only Way of Salvation.

What made the difference? Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit. Peter’s witness before the Sanhedrin was not due to his natural boldness, but to the filling of the Holy Spirit. In that moment, when questioned about their actions, Peter doesn’t see a court; he sees a congregation. Peter didn’t cower; he boldly preached about Jesus. Peter proclaimed with conviction, ‘And there is salvation in no one else…’ (Acts 4:12). This bold declaration was rooted in his unwavering faith. As Luke narrates, those who opposed them were astounded by the boldness of Peter and John. These were ordinary men, unschooled and unprivileged by worldly standards. However, their proximity to Jesus had transformed them into fearless bearers of the Gospel.

This is a powerful reminder that we don’t need extraordinary credentials or a prestigious background to make a significant impact. When we walk with Jesus, we become armed with an unwavering faith that conquers fear and spreads hope. Just as Peter astonished the world around him with his boldness, we too can inspire others through our unwavering trust in Jesus. In your life, redemption is possible. God has a plan for you that outweighs where you’ve come from or what you’ve been through. God brought Ruth and Boaz together, and they had a child together. And that child would be in the lineage of Jesus who was the Saviour of the world. Ruth, a Moabite, was a part of Christ’s lineage.
