Drawing NearExemplo
THE GIFT OF PRAYER
Prayer is communication with God. Healthy communication involves both talking and listening. A healthy relationship requires both.
What a wonderful gift and beautiful invitation that God has already drawn near to us and personally calls us to talk to Him. God desires that we share our requests in time of need, pour our hearts out to Him, and listen to Him speak to us through His Word and the Holy Spirit.
Prayer is also communion with God. It is much more than a religious exercise of repetitive words. Communion with God in prayer means that since God has drawn close to us by His grace and has taken the first step toward us, we are transformed. What follows is a natural desire to draw near to Him. As we do, God reveals more of Himself to us, and in turn, we long to know Him more. Since He loved us first, we love Him back in return.
Though our prayers of faith result in mountains moving, circumstances changing, and miracles happening, we long to seek His face and know Him more closely above all else through relationship and fulfilling fellowship!
In the days ahead, you will not only learn a life-changing truth about communicating and communion with the Lord but there are provided prayers you can use to fellowship with Him. This will help you start or renew your journey of drawing near to Jesus Christ.
PRAYER:
“Jesus, thank you for your grace and unconditional love for me. I am in awe of the fact that you have taken steps toward me first, even when I was helpless and in great need. I recognize today that your name is Emmanuel, God with us; God with me. Thank you that you are personal and are with me, even as I talk to you right now!
Help me to learn to talk to you, listen to your voice, receive from you, know you, and commune with you.
Remove any obstacle or distraction that keeps me from drawing close to you. I ask this, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
*A note about each day's prayer:
Each daily prayer will help you start a conversation with Jesus. It is important to continue to be genuine and authentic with God. He is interested in your heart and life. He desires that you know Him more each day. After you pray the prayer each day, I encourage you to feel free to continue to communicate and commune with Him from your own heart and with your own words.
