Day 1: Submitting to Your Seat:

Welcome to the Take Your Seat Plan. Through this plan, we will cover a piece of Joseph’s amazing story of betrayal, faith, trust, and forgiveness. There are so many powerful lessons to be learned from Joseph’s story… One of them is being content with being #2.

We live in a culture that teaches us to always be first—to be the leader, the entrepreneur, and the boss. Anything less than that seems less important, but a school won’t be a healthy, safe, and thriving environment for children to learn without teachers, support staff, and maintenance. A CEO without a team is rendered useless. And a pastor without a leadership team is overworked and without purpose. I am here to challenge you that it’s not about who you lead. It’s about how you lead. You are the first leader of your life, and that doesn’t change no matter where you are seated.

But there’s so much more to learn. Joseph’s life is a powerful example of God’s faithfulness and providence to bring a dream to pass. Despite the jealousy and hatred of his brothers (Genesis 37:1-11), the false accusations of Potiphar’s wife, and years spent in prison, God used Joseph’s gifts and talents to bring about His divine plan. Joseph’s story reminds us that even when our dreams are seemingly shattered, and we face insurmountable obstacles, God is still at work in our lives. He is faithful to His promises and will use even the most difficult circumstances for our good and His glory.

Have you submitted to God’s plan for your life? Have you accepted His will? Have you submitted to your seat?

Contentment will follow once we submit to God's Will. Not comfort or laziness in our current position, but fulfillment. And when we are content in our position, God can use us as valuable tools to accomplish the dreams of others – let alone our own.

You want to know what I believe the number one blockage to being able to receive somebody else’s dream is? Frustration. When we become frustrated with our own thoughts, dreams, visions, and ideas not coming to pass, we project that onto other people. That’s why we have to be in tune with the God of our dreams first. And the worst part is that frustration can cause a person to forfeit their seat.

As we close day 1, take a moment to eliminate all outside distractions. I want you to put your titles on hold, set your rules aside, and take a moment to focus on the reason God created you.
