5 Simple Prayers (That Can Change Your Life)Exemplo
#1: The Lord's Prayer
Have you ever wondered if you're praying the right way? Or maybe this prayer thing is new for you, and you aren't sure how to do it. Perhaps your prayer life has gotten stale, and it needs a boost.
I have great news for you! We don't need fancy words or formulas to talk with the Creator of the Universe. We just have to start the conversation.
This 5-day plan was created to give you five different jumping-off points for connecting with the Father. Over the next few days, we will pray the Lord's Prayer and simple prayers for Gratitude, Forgiveness, Healing, and Provision. These prayers are scripture-based because God's word never returns void (Isaiah 55:11). They also end in Jesus' name because there is nothing mightier than the name above all names.
Jesus gave us his very own prayer while he was here on earth. In Matthew 6:6, he tells us that prayer is a private thing, so we should go into our closet, shut the door, and speak directly to the Father.
He continues in Matthew 6:9-13 with his example: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
Simple. Beautiful. The perfect place to start, given to us by the perfect and Holy One.
Action: Today, pray the Lord's Prayer. Even if you have prayed this prayer thousands of times before (and maybe especially if you have), pause after each line. Take a moment to think about the words you prayed and what they mean to you. Better yet, journal the prayer and any thoughts the Holy Spirit brings to mind as you are praying.
The Lord's Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. In Jesus' name, amen.
